Women & Wine VI Raises Funds for Lombardi Cancer Center

Did you know that in the United States breast cancer is diagnosed every two minutes, and a woman dies of breast cancer every thirteen minutes? At Chevy Chase Trust, we embrace the value of collaboration to advance the community and improve the overall quality of life. That’s why we proudly support and sponsored Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center at its Women & Wine VII breast cancer awareness and fundraising event on April 17, 2012.

“It was wonderful to unite with many of Washington’s leading businesswomen in this effort to support and raise awareness of cancer research. Both Doctors Claudine Isaacs and Shawna Willey offered valuable insight into the trials they are doing and corrected popular misconceptions about breast cancer. Attending their informative session each year is reason enough to attend.” said Stacy Murchison of Chevy Chase Trust.

The Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center is the only comprehensive cancer center in the Washington, DC area designated by the National Cancer Institute. This year’s Women & Wine event raised over $165,000, a forty-eight percent increase over last year. The proceeds raised will be invested to the improvement of the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of breast cancer.
