CCT Hosts 2020 Women on Boards Event on Board Diversity

On Tuesday, November 12, 2013, Chevy Chase Trust was proud to host “Breakfast in Bethesda” for 2020 Women on Boards, a grassroots campaign to raise the percentage of women on the boards of publicly-traded companies to 20% by the year 2020. The breakfast was one of three sold out events in the DC metro area on the same date. Numerous similar events were held in NY, Seattle, LA, Chicago, Atlanta, and Stockholm, Sweden.

Stacy Murchison, CCT Managing Director and 2020 WOB DC Steering Committee Co-Chair, introduced Lisa A. Hook, President & CEO of Neustar as the keynote speaker. Ms. Hook described the circumstances that led her to serve on a board and her experience both on European and U.S. boards. She emphasized that one reason contributing to the slow growth of the percentage of women on US boards is that US board members do not have term limits.

Jill Klein, DC Steering Committee Co-Chair, introduced two American University MBA students, Laura Denton and Danielle Hart, who presented their research for the 2013 Study “Advancing Women to the Corporate Boardroom.
